Main Article Content
Abstract
The tariff policy implemented in Ecuador has generated significant effects on business dynamics, particularly among organizations that rely on imported goods. In an economic environment characterized by dollarization, fiscal pressure, and the need to protect domestic industry, tariffs have become a tool of commercial control. However, their application has led to increased production costs, disruptions in supply chains, and a decline in the competitiveness of Ecuadorian firms (Ortiz & Cueva, 2021). In response to this scenario, organizations have had to adopt various strategies to mitigate these impacts and maintain market operations. This article analyzes the main business strategies currently being applied in Ecuador to counter the effects of tariffs, based on a qualitative approach supported by document analysis of official sources and sectoral studies. Identified actions include supplier diversification, import substitution through domestic production, process digitalization, and logistics optimization (Zambrano & Cedeño, 2023). The findings reveal that companies implementing adaptive strategies are able to sustain profitability and competitiveness, although they require technical support and coherent public policies. This analysis not only helps to understand business responses to current trade challenges, but also offers recommendations for the formulation of economic policies that strike a better balance between tariff protection and business dynamism.
