Abstract

The Indian judiciary, burdened by a backlog of over 50 million cases, is at a critical juncture. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers a paradigm shift from traditional, paper-heavy litigation to a streamlined, data-driven ecosystem. This paper examines the role of AI in enhancing judicial efficiency, the ethical dilemmas of algorithmic bias, and the recent regulatory milestones, including the Supreme Court’s 2025 White Paper on AI. Through an analysis of landmark judgments and current technological deployments like SUPACE and SUVAS, the study argues for a "Human-in-the-Loop" model to ensure that technology serves justice without compromising constitutional values.2
