Randomized Controlled Trial: Investigating The Efficacy Of Ayurvedic Lifestyle Interventions In Preventing Metabolic Syndrome
Main Article Content
Abstract
Metabolic syndrome poses a significant public health challenge worldwide, necessitating effective preventive strategies. This randomized controlled trial (RCT) aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Ayurvedic lifestyle interventions in preventing metabolic syndrome. Participants (n=50) were randomly assigned to either an intervention group receiving personalized Ayurvedic lifestyle guidance or a control group receiving standard care. The intervention included physical activity recommendations, stress management techniques, and herbal supplementation tailored to individual constitution (Prakriti). Key outcome measures included changes in metabolic parameters (such as waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting glucose, triglycerides, and HDL cholesterol) and incidence of metabolic syndrome over 6 months. Results indicated a significant reduction in metabolic parameters in the intervention group compared to the control group (p<0. 05). Furthermore, the incidence of metabolic syndrome was notably lower in the intervention group (10%) compared to the control group (25%). These findings suggest that personalized Ayurvedic lifestyle interventions hold promise in preventing metabolic syndrome. Incorporating Ayurvedic principles into mainstream preventive healthcare may offer a holistic approach to combating metabolic syndrome and its associated complications.
