Abstract

The informal sector is a critical component of rural economies, especially in marginalized regions like Churachandpur, Manipur. This article explores how the capability approach, developed by Amartya Sen, can be applied to empower the youth engaged in the informal sector. By focusing on expanding their access to education, healthcare, vocational training, financial services, and market opportunities, the capability approach provides a comprehensive framework to enhance the well-being and economic potential of youth in Churachandpur. This paper aims to propose strategies that align with the socio-economic conditions of the region, addressing the unique challenges faced by young people working in the informal sector.
