Educación financiera: Un análisis sobre la perspectiva de la población adulta Financial education: An analysis from the perspective of the adult population

Abstract

Through financial education, we seek to reduce social exclusion and improve present and future family well-being, which is why the United Nations sustainable development goals include it as an important tool to achieve a more sustainable future. For Mexico, promoting and directing initiatives in favor of financial education at all levels is an urgent task that brings benefits to the national and personal economy. The objective of this research is to analyze the factors involved in financial education explained through financial behavior to identify the economic impact they have on the adult population. The research is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional correlational. The study was carried out in Ciudad Obregón in the State of Sonora, with a sample of 201 people surveyed. The study subjects were men and women between 18 and 70 years of age who have a bank card, whether payroll, credit, pension or government support. The data were obtained through the application of a hybrid instrument from the National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF). The reliability of the data was obtained through Cronbach's alpha with statistically acceptable results for analysis. The results show low levels of financial education of the population which are rooted in three important factors to address, such as: indebtedness, spending and absence of a budget.
