Abstract
This study investigates training and development initiatives within public sector banks, aiming to develop a framework for fostering continuous learning, evaluate innovative training methods, and identify a comprehensive training needs identification model. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, surveying 184 employees from various branches and departments in Bengaluru. Findings reveal a predominantly male sample with 0-2 years of experience, primarily occupying teller and loan officer roles. While respondents generally perceive strong organizational support for knowledge sharing and ample learning opportunities from shared experiences, comfort levels in seeking aid varied. New training methods received positive ratings for comprehension and applicability, with engagement levels showing variability. Gender did not significantly influence perceptions, but disparities were evident based on education level, job position, and working experience. Significant associations were found between the effectiveness of training methods and the promotion of continuous learning. Emphasizing training needs identification and continuous development positively impacts perceived training needs, although focusing more on strategic training needs may slightly reduce overall demand.
